“Pumping and Hydraulics’ Solutions for Irrigation and Water Supply”
Training: Energy Efficiency for Irrigation - Online (Webinars)
This advanced training course is available Internationally and presented in 10 x 2hr weekly sessions online in both metric and imperial units.
The course empowers Irrigation Designers, Managers, Operators and Contractors to recognise energy efficiency issues in their complete irrigation systems. Using free energy efficiency design software developed by Tallemenco, they can then create energy efficient irrigation systems and, with some assistance, modify existing ones.
To achieve efficient water distribution, it is essential to have a constant minimum residual pressure at the irrigation emitter. Pressure variation at the emitter produces sprinkler throw and flow variations which severely affect irrigation efficiency.
Good irrigation design will ensure that irrigation emitters commence their life with the optimum residual pressure to maintain efficient water distribution.
However, once installed, it's all downhill from there! Pumps and filters lose performance, pipes deteriorate hydraulically and alterations to irrigation scheduling can compromise system efficiency.

In some cases, the operator won't even know that their system is not performing to peak efficiency.
Many would employ a Catch Can Test to indicate their irrigation efficiency in terms of CU's and DU's. But when a Catch Can Test shows an irrigation system to have poor CU's and DU's, what then? How is it fixed?
Other than faulty sprinklers (or poor design), poor CU's and DU's will always reflect on poorly operating pumping and pipeline systems.
Tallemenco's Energy Efficiency for Irrigation Course teaches operators to recognise the causes of a poorly performing pumping and pipeline system and empowers them to restore their own system to optimum energy efficiency.
The Course Curriculum can be supplied on request by contacting Rob Welke at Tallemenco. Just add "request training course curriculum" in the Query field.
Catch can tests showing poor CU's & DU's serve to demonstrate that there is a problem.

This training course is identical to Tallemenco's "Energy Efficiency for Irrigation" course but is presented online (Webinars) to enable people who are Internationally based, live remotely, have ongoing work commitments or just cant get to a 2 day Face2Face training course.
The course is hosted Online through River Murray Training (R-M-T), which is an Australian Registered Training Organisation.
A shortened version of this course is also available Online. It consists of the first 6 weeks of the 10 week Online course and is packaged as "Energy Efficiency for Pumping and Pipelines".

ABOUT THE COURSE PRESENTER
ABOUT THE COURSE.
Rob Welke commenced his career in the water industry in 1968 and worked for 25 years with SA Water. Here, mostly as Senior Technical Officer, Rob conducted over 1000 energy efficiency tests on pumps up to 5,000 kW (6,700 HP), conducted numerous pipeline friction tests on pipes from 80 to 1800mm (3" to 70") and conducted extensive flowmeter lab and field testing.
Robs extensive pump testing, flowmeter and pipeline friction testing experience has prepared him for designing and presenting this course.

Since commencing work in the irrigation industry in 1994, Rob has spent 6 years designing and building packaged pump systems for golf courses and horticulture followed by 3 years with Hydroplan in Adelaide as irrigation consultant designing pumping and irrigation systems.
Murray Bridge Onkaparinga Pipeline, SA
In 2003, Rob established Tallemenco Pty Ltd as a pumping and pipeline hydraulics consultant. Since commencing in private practice in the irrigation industry, Rob recognised the need for an advanced pumping and pipeline performance verification service and so established P.I.P.E.S. (Pumping and Irrigation Pipeline Efficiency Service). As a result of conducting this service, he recognised the need for designer, manager and operator training on all aspects of pumping and pipeline efficiency.
With Robs unique water supply background, and as a result of identifying the pumping and pipeline efficiency training needs of the irrigation industry, he has prepared the Energy Efficiency for Irrigation course over 2 years with over 600 hours input. This course is unique and many components in this course have not been recognised in National training competencies.
Rob is a Certified Irrigation Agronomist, Certified Irrigation Auditor and has an Associate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Training Level
The level of training included in the course is typically Diploma Level (level 5), with some lower level content.
CERTIFICATION
All participants will receive an eCertificate of Attendance for those modules attended in the Energy Efficiency for Irrigation - Online Course.
Participants who have completed the "Energy Efficiency for Pumping and Pipelines" 1 Day training course can participate in the remaining 4 modules Online (Filtration, Flowmetering, Flow Management and Field Verification) to qualify for an additional 4 CEP points. Register with R-M-T for these additional modules.
The Australian Golf Course Superintendents Association (AGCSA) has endorsed the 10 week "Energy Efficiency for Irrigation - Online" course for inclusion into its AAP Accreditation Program. Valued at 10 Certified Education Points (CEP's) for AGCSA members.
The 6 week "Energy Efficiency for Pumping and Pipelines" course has also been endorsed by the AGCSA and is worth 6 CEP's.
"Energy Efficiency - Online" Training Courses are offered as "Professional Development".
